‘Question society’
Collection of 21 different sized collages.
The collection represents how the artist feels towards societies views on women and the pressures magazines, media and Televisions have on women and girls. The artist used materials she could find while at home in lockdown. The collages contain; fabric, and mostly pictures words, patterns and phrases found in beauty magazines to achieve a lasting impact.

Survival by Meg Javis (ft)

“Can our emotions and survival instincts change the way we feel and think about issues within society?”.
The artist wanted the viewer to reflect on the views society has on women and how many still hold the old fashioned view that women should cook, clean and be housewives in modern society. The artist also shows how she looked deeper into how societies views this, and the impact they have on our emotions. Leading to how we react to different situations when survival instincts are needed. She wanted the viewers to question themselves and society when looking at the photography.

Part of a series of works that explore the passing of time; decay and rust within the corrugated iron reveal beautiful colours, shapes and textures.

Photo exposed screen print and acrylic on paper

Using a memory from a photo as inspiration, the artist took a photo in the same location as the original photo and incorporated them to express the passing of time. The screen print is fractured and incomplete, further expressing the feeling of a time past and the colour washes enhance this further.

The Artist has started her work using her connection to music and later overlayed using a handcut stencil and spray paint. The piece was developed over a few sessions and finally embraced a colour aspect to lift the feeling to a future more positive human outlook to the present

The Artist has created three pieces, that work together as a whole . Starting again as a fluid connection to rhythm and patterns within music,over-laying, sanding and rubbing back to reveal elements of composition that become semi abstract.

This work was also developed during the Lockdown and expresses our need to work together to create a more connected.
